The Highway Department is responsible for maintaining Sequatchie County roads, bridges, drainage areas, and related public infrastructure. This department works to keep county roadways safe, accessible, and properly maintained for residents, businesses, emergency services, school transportation, and visitors.
The Highway Department performs road repairs, paving coordination, ditching, drainage maintenance, sign maintenance, snow and storm response, and other work needed to support safe travel throughout the county. The department also responds to weather-related road issues and works with local and state partners on transportation and infrastructure needs.
Key functions include:
- Maintaining county roads and rights-of-way
- Road repair, patching, grading, and paving coordination
- Bridge and culvert maintenance
- Drainage, ditching, and stormwater-related work
- Road sign installation and maintenance
- Weather and storm response for county roads
- Clearing debris from county roadways
- Supporting transportation safety and infrastructure planning
